Drill team at Metorex’s Lubembe property in the DRC

Johannesburg, South Africa --- MININGREVIEW.COM --- 09 July 2010 - South African-based and JSE-listed Metorex Limited ‒ a mid-tier mining group well-known as a base metal operator in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) ‒ has announced the release of a maiden mineral resource estimate for its Lubembe deposit south of Kinsenda in southern Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Revealing this in a statement released here, the company said that the resource estimate ‒ which was SAMREC-compliant ‒ amounted to 1.5Mt.

This resource estimate was recently completed by Integrated Geological Solutions (Pty) Limited of Johannesburg, and had included all the available drill-hole and assay data up to 30 March 2010.

Metorex CEO, Terence Goodlace said “We are encouraged by the outcome of the resource estimate at Lubembe with total contained copper of over 1.5 million tonnes. In line with our base metals growth strategy, we will continue to advance the pre-feasibility study to establish the viability of building a large scale operation at Lubembe,” he added.

Metorex revealed that further exploration drilling was being planned at the Lubembe deposit and additional expenditure was being committed for environmental, mine design, metallurgical test-work and engineering design studies.
